Labour Court recommends €3,500 for unfair dismissal at Boojum Galway

The Labour Court recommended that Boojum Galway pay €3,500 to a chef who was unfairly dismissed. The recommendation was signed on 8 December 2014. The worker said he had not been warned that his performance put his job at risk and that his dismissal came without warning. Boojum Galway did not attend the hearing. On the worker’s uncontested evidence, the Court found the dismissal fell short of the fairness expected of a reasonable employer and contravened the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedure.
