The Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus recruit 20 additional full-time-equivalent cabin crew and that the company and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union establish a group to design and trial a fixed 5/3 roster for short-haul flights. The recommendation was dated 12 June 2014. It also recommended a third post-duty day off for cabin crew assigned to San Francisco, in full settlement of the union’s claim for time off for that group. Other claims on transatlantic time off and collective agreements were left for further negotiation or discussion. The recommendation followed a Labour Court investigation after the union had notified the company of planned strike action; the union said the action would not proceed after progress in talks.
