The Labour Court recommended that Galway Autism Partnership pay €2,500 compensation to a worker it found was unfairly dismissed. The recommendation was signed on 5 June 2014. The worker was a fundraiser on a 12-month fixed-term contract. He said he was dismissed after complaining about how a senior staff member treated him, without an investigation. The partnership said it needed to reduce payroll costs because of financial difficulties. The Court found that an exchange between the worker and a director influenced the decision to end his employment before the contract expired, and that the dismissal was unfair and breached the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures. It recommended €2,500 in full and final settlement; the sum was not for pecuniary loss.
