The Labour Court recommended that Dawn Meats Ireland recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union as the chosen representative of employees who join it. The recommendation was signed on 5 June 2014. The union said Dawn Meats Ireland did not respond to its approaches and declined conciliation. The company said it had a Workers Representative Council, that employees had raised no issues and that it could not be compelled to negotiate with a union. The Court also recommended negotiations towards a collective agreement on procedures for conducting industrial relations business.
