Labour Court recommends improved redundancy terms for four Emo Oil Ltd workers

The Labour Court recommended that Emo Oil Ltd bring the redundancy terms offered to four administrative workers into line with an agreement reached on 27 April 2010. The recommendation was signed on 26 June 2013. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the female workers were being offered less favourable terms than male colleagues. The company denied different treatment and said its proposal reflected industry practice and a need to reduce costs. The Court found that the agreement had been applied in cases collectively bargained with the union and saw no basis for excluding this group.
