The Labour Court recommended that NUI - Galway restore a pay adjustment for Associate Professors from 19 June 2013. The recommendation followed a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and IFUT over the college’s plan to reduce the pay scale and recover overpayments. The Court found the adjustment reflected a shared understanding linking Associate Professor and Professor salaries that had been applied over many years. It did not accept that the college was justified in withdrawing it.
