Labour Court recommends €5,000 for worker unfairly dismissed by Yankee Store

The Labour Court recommended that Unlimited Fragrances Limited, trading as The Yankee Store, pay a worker €5,000 after finding her dismissal unfair on procedural grounds. The recommendation was signed on 15 February 2013. The worker said she was dismissed shortly after raising a complaint about her working-time entitlements. The company said it dismissed her over performance and interpersonal difficulties and that the complaint did not influence its decision. The Court noted that the worker was dismissed by text without prior warning that her employment was at risk, and found that she had not been afforded fair procedures.
