The Labour Court rejected the Voluntary Hospitals Craft Group of Unions’ claim for designated parking for maintenance staff at St Vincent’s University Hospital. The recommendation was signed on 13 June 2011. The unions said staff had used the Technical Services Department yard for years and wanted the arrangement to continue. The hospital said redevelopment had ended informal parking arrangements across staff grades and that alternatives were available. The Court recommended that the maintenance staff accept the alternative parking arrangements, including guaranteed free parking about two kilometres away.
