The Labour Court recommended that an industrial engineer nominated by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union examine Bord Na Mona Horticulture Ltd’s proposals for productivity-related pay at the Kilberry site and try to reach agreement on a suitable arrangement.
The dispute concerned a proposed replacement for an interim fixed hourly rate. The union said the company’s plan could reduce earnings and increase working hours; the company said it could not sustain the interim rate and needed a competitive, lasting pay system.
The recommendation was signed on 21 July 2010. The Court recommended that the review be completed before 30 September 2010, with unresolved issues referred back for a definitive recommendation.
