Labour Court says Brinks guards’ existing terms should remain until agreement

The Labour Court recommended that the existing terms of 30 Security Guards transferred to Brinks Ireland Limited remain in place until changed by agreement. The recommendation was signed on 24 July 2009. The dispute covered working hours, allowances, sick pay and a savings scheme after Brinks took over the Intel Site security contract from G4 Security. The union said changes, including an average 42-hour week, reduced earnings. Brinks said it needed changes for economic, organisational and technical reasons. The Court found the transfer was covered by the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations and recommended urgent engagement, with conciliation if needed, to reach agreement by 30 September 2009.
