Labour Court recommends structured talks on teachers’ terms at Emerald Cultural Institute

The Labour Court recommended that Bluebeam Limited T/A Emerald Cultural Institute and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union begin structured discussions on teachers’ employment terms. The recommendation was signed on 23 July 2009. The union sought improved terms and full-time contracts comparable with those of secondary-school teachers. The Court found the claim premature because the previously agreed process for documenting existing terms and beginning local negotiations had not been completed. It recommended that the parties follow the institute’s proposed process.
