The Labour Court recommended that Reagecon Diagnostics Ltd. pay a worker €5,000 after finding his employment had been terminated in an unfair and inappropriate manner. The recommendation was signed on 28 April 2008.
The worker said his supervisor gave him permission to take his wife home on the day she was dismissed. He said he was dismissed after returning from three days of pre-arranged annual leave. The company had treated him as having resigned when he left with his wife.
Reagecon Diagnostics declined to attend the Labour Court investigation and did not provide a written statement. The Court said it had relied on the worker’s oral and written submissions in finding that his employment had been terminated unfairly and inappropriately. It recommended €5,000 compensation in full and final settlement of his claim.
