The Labour Court recommended referring the question of managerial posts in the Orthoptists Service back to two experts for a final and early decision, in a dispute between the HSE - Employers' Agency and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union. The union said senior orthoptists were carrying out Head of Department roles, while HSE cited earlier studies and said orthoptists did not have defined management duties. The Court said the parties could not agree on basic facts. Its recommendation was signed on 11 April 2008.
