Labour Court recommends worker accept Movex offer of investigation and re-engagement

By Niamh Kearney

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that a worker accept Movex Packaging Services Limited’s offer of an independent investigation and re-engagement at its Cookstown site, with transport provided. In a decision signed on 11 April 2008, the Court varied the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and did not recommend payment for the worker’s absence from work. The dispute followed an incident with colleagues and counter-complaints during an investigation. The worker said the proposed move involved a change of location without transport and work requiring forklift qualifications she did not have. Movex said she had not reported for work after the incident and that it paid her for five weeks before stopping payments.
