The Labour Court found no merit in the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim, as formulated, to extend an allowance paid to five Clariant Masterbatches Ireland Limited mixing-department employees to all employees. The company said the allowance reflected extra responsibility and productivity, and offered cross-training so other employees could qualify. The Court said the union could identify savings that might support an allowance in future. The recommendation was signed on 3 April 2008.
