The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal over a permanent training role at Eircom, affirming the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 4 April 2008. The worker argued that years of temporary training duties and vacancy notices entitled him to a permanent position and regrading. Eircom said the duties created no automatic entitlement and that it had paid the appropriate allowances. The Court found the notices did not offer permanent employment and that the worker had never been formally appointed.
