The Labour Court recommended that either of Tedcastle Aviation Fuels’ two proposals made at conciliation be accepted as a fair solution to a dispute over shift patterns at Shannon Airport. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the company introduced changes in 2005 without agreement and that workers operated them under protest. It argued that the cancellation of a scheduled Shannon-Heathrow refuelling meant the former shift patterns should return. Tedcastle Aviation Fuels said the changes protected its business, maintained safety standards and met customer needs, following consultation with staff. The Court said responsibility for managing change was shared and urged both sides to communicate about future issues. The recommendation was signed on 7 February 2008.
