The Labour Court recommended that Dairygold compensate workers for earnings lost through revised rosters in 2004 and 2005. The dispute concerned 30 workers at the Mallow plant. The Court recommended full compensation for 2004 losses and compensation for 2005 losses, less any hours not worked due to official industrial action by union members. It also recommended accounting for the €1,000 already advanced against the compensation total. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the roster changes were made without agreement and sought payment of the remaining losses. Dairygold said workers had foregone reasonable earnings opportunities. The Court also recommended union engagement on future proposals, subject to a guarantee protecting reckonable pay in specified redundancy circumstances before the end of 2007.
