Labour Court recommends talks on filling Castlerea Prison assistant librarian post

The Labour Court recommended that Roscommon County Council and the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union consult on how to fill the Assistant Librarian post at Castlerea Prison. The recommendation was signed on 23 March 2006. The union wanted a confined competition for the post, while the Council had advertised it through open competition. The union said it was a promotional role for Council library staff; the Council said most local-authority posts are open to all qualified applicants and no agreement covered this appointment. The Court recommended that consultation begin without delay and finish within four weeks of the recommendation.
