The Labour Court rejected a union claim for pay parity for Galway County Association instructors, in a recommendation signed on 27 March 2006. The Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union based its claim on a 1995 letter concerning pay rates for Western Health Board instructors. The Association said agreed national pay scales had since been established for instructor grades in the sector. The Court accepted that the 1995 letter put the Department’s then-approved consolidated salary scales in place, and said the later national scales left no basis to concede the claim.
