The Labour Court recommended that Coombe Women's Hospital implement an equal job-sharing scheme for Deputy Chief Medical Scientist duties, as proposed by management. Its recommendation, signed on 24 October 2005, followed a dispute brought by the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association (Mlsa). The union said its member should not have to share the role after holding it on a whole-time basis; management argued equal sharing was equitable. The Court called the scheme reasonable and stressed professionalism and patient needs, particularly at handover.
