The Labour Court recommended that Mid Western Lifts accept its 7% pay differential offer, yielding €20.18 an hour for Lift Engineers, and increase annual leave to as many as 23 days based on service. The recommendation was dated 10 October 2005. The Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union sought a 17% differential, retrospective service-pay increases to 1981, more travelling-time pay and 25 days’ leave. The Court did not recommend those claims. It recommended linking future service-pay increases to the Consumer Price Index from 1 January 2006, while keeping the existing travelling-time arrangement and rejecting a 55-hour basis for holiday pay.
