Labour Court recommends privacy safeguards for Irish Life call recording

The Labour Court recommended safeguards as Irish Life extended call recording to customer service areas at its Dublin head office. The recommendation in the dispute with Amicus was signed on 10 October 2005. The Court supported the introduction of recording along management’s general lines but said staff had legitimate concerns. It recommended unrecorded extensions for permitted private calls and official union business, changes to the code of practice to distinguish monitoring of new and long-serving staff, and a joint review after 12 months.
