The Labour Court recommended that Campbell Catering’s service-pay claim for employees at Mayo General Hospital, Baxter Plants in Castlebar and Swinford should not be conceded. The recommendation was dated 10 October 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a scheme for employees with five to 15 years’ service, saying the pay scale stopped increasing after three years. The Court said the claim breached the pay provisions of Sustaining Progress. It encouraged the parties to resume discussions about replacing long-service gifts with payments worth approximately €100 to €300 after 10, 20 and 30 years.
