In 2004, the Labour Court recommended that Jurys Doyle Hotels write off the service-charge deficit at Jury's Hotel in Limerick as of its transfer to new ownership. The recommendation was dated 20 July 2004. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought a loyalty bonus for members after the sale. The company argued that it had sold the hotel at a lower price to protect jobs and pension entitlements, and said a loyalty payment was unwarranted. It had offered to write off an estimated €15,000 service-charge deficit at conciliation, but that offer was rejected.
