The Labour Court could not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for a daily meal allowance for Kerry County Council landfill workers. The recommendation was signed on 20 July 2004. The Court said the workers did not meet the established criteria for a meal allowance and that eating on site was the appropriate allowance. The council said the workers' existing eating-on-site allowance had risen from €1.43 to €1.90 a day through benchmarking, which the union had accepted.
