The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc pay a retired worker €2,000 in full and final settlement of a dispute over a discontinued salary increment. The recommendation was signed on 8 July 2004. The Court did not recommend the union’s claim that the worker retain both the post-maximum increment and a later long-service increment. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said Teagasc discontinued the 2.1% increment in 1997 and deducted arrears dating back to 1994. Teagasc said the 6.98% long-service increment introduced under a 1997 agreement was more beneficial. The Court said the worker should not receive both increments, but recommended €2,000 for retrospection paid in 1997.
