The Labour Court recommended continuing an agreed job-evaluation process to address a pay dispute involving clerical staff at Independent Newspapers Limited. Its recommendation was signed on 22 June 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought proposed job upgradings and a 5% pay increase after restructuring affected 25 of 144 clerical staff and 12 posts were due to be lost. The company said the 1988 Joint House Agreement provided the process for assessing jobs and pay. The Court recommended using that process and following its procedures if problems remained.
