In 1999, the Labour Court recommended an independent assessment of productivity measures claimed by about 30 Trinity College Dublin information-systems workers, to establish their value under the Programme for Competitiveness and Work. The recommendation was dated 22 June 1999. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the workers had earned a 5.5% increase through restructuring and efficiency gains in 1996. Trinity College Dublin said no agreement had been reached and further negotiations were needed. The Court recommended that IPC or another qualified body assess the concessions and management objectives, with the work due by 28 September 1999. Any outstanding issues could return to the Court.
