In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Organon Teknika Ltd and Manufacturing, Science, Finance accept proposals to resolve a disciplinary dispute involving three process operators. Two workers had received stage two written warnings and a shop steward a final written warning after an alleged unofficial stoppage over changed working arrangements. The union said there had been insufficient consultation and the discipline was unjust. The company said workers refused to return despite offers to discuss their concerns. Dated 30 November 1998, the Court noted that the warnings had expired. It recommended that the parties jointly clarify procedures for future disputes, consultation, grievances and union representation, and follow their existing agreement.
