In 1998, the Labour Court found that Oasis (Eldermade Limited) unfairly dismissed a worker and recommended £1,500 compensation and a reference on request. The recommendation was dated 27 April 1998. The worker said he left a job he had held for four years after being offered a permanent position setting up the new shop, then was dismissed without explanation. Oasis did not attend the hearing but said in a letter that he was unsuitable and could not accept a director’s authority. The Court found no evidence that his work had been unsatisfactory and said his contacts had helped the new business.
