In 1998, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s pay and transport claims for three Coillte inventory operatives. The union argued that the workers’ duties and travel were comparable to area foremen, who received higher pay and company vans. Coillte said the roles differed and existing travel arrangements were satisfactory. The Court found that changes to the workers’ arrangements did not warrant conceding the claims. The recommendation was dated 27 April 1998.
