The Labour Court recommended that the South Eastern Health Board address Mary P. Redmond’s pay and conditions in light of a review of its home help service. The recommendation was dated 11 March 1998. Redmond had worked for the Board as a home help in its Wexford Community Care area since 1972 and served four or five clients a week. She sought the terms enjoyed by wholetime home helps, saying she worked more than 39 hours a week. The Court said her case failed because she had not been recruited in the same manner as those workers, while recognising that she had worked de facto wholetime over several years.
