Labour Court recommends time in lieu for four Cork Corporation workers on planer jobs

In 1997, the Labour Court recommended one-for-one time in lieu for a gang of four Cork Corporation employees while a contractor’s road planer was in use. The recommendation was dated 21 November 1997. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought overtime for five employees for the full period of planer projects. Cork Corporation offered overtime only for the time the planer operated outside normal hours and disputed the proposed gang size. The Court considered the parties’ submissions and agreements on contractor use, and recommended the four-person arrangement whenever a planer was on contract.
