In 1997, the Labour Court did not recommend granting the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for productivity payments for about 80 airline maintenance assistants at Team Aer Lingus. The Court said the company’s improved trading position was not yet sufficient to implement the award without risking the savings it had achieved. It recommended that the parties revisit productivity payments when the company’s finances permitted. The recommendation was issued on 4 April 1997.
