In 1997, the Labour Court recommended that Glaxo Wellcome increase its offer from 4% to 6% for six workers in its Warehouse and General Service areas, on a self-financing basis, effective 16 October 1996. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought pay parity for four warehouse workers and increases for seven workers after the Glaxo and Wellcome merger. The Court did not recommend conceding the claims of the other five workers. It issued the recommendation on 2 April 1997.
