In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Ur-Ok Textiles Limited pay the third phase of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work from 1 December 1996. The recommendation was signed on 9 December 1996. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the increase in full, while the company cited losses and trading difficulties. The Court also recommended immediate discussions on a proposed bonus scheme, to be completed within a month. Any outstanding payment for April to December was left for future discussion, depending on the company’s performance.
