In 1996, the Labour Court recommended a job evaluation of three Royal Irish Academy posts in a grading dispute with the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union (Impact). The union sought higher grades for two administrative officer posts and one secretarial assistant post. The Academy said the three claims would cost about £12,000 a year and that the posts needed evaluation before any upgrade. The Court recommended that the evaluation be completed as soon as possible. Its recommendation was signed on 16 September 1996.
