The Labour Court recommended changes to the redundancy package for workers at Delphi Packard Electric Ireland Limited’s Tallaght plant, including five weeks’ pay per year of service based on actual pay and excluding statutory payments. The Court signed its recommendation on 6 June 1996. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union sought enhanced severance, pension funding, pay increases and payment for four deferred holiday days, among other claims. Delphi Packard said the package had a fixed budget and cost about £11 million. The Court recommended including PCW Phases 1 and 2 in redundancy calculations and paying the four holiday days claimed. It did not recommend concession of the PESP or £1,000 ex-gratia claims, and noted the company's agreement to pay banked hours.
