The Labour Court did not recommend that Penn Racquet Sports concede a union claim for extra pay for five maintenance fitters who performed electrical duties. The Court signed its recommendation on 6 June 1996. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the duties involved additional skill and responsibility and sought better pay alongside training. The company said the minor electrical work had long been part of the fitters’ jobs and they had received instruction. The Court concluded there were no grounds to recommend concession of the claim.
