The Labour Court recommended a redundancy package for workers at Delphi Packard Electric Ireland Limited’s Tallaght plant, including five weeks’ pay per year of service based on actual pay and excluding statutory payments. The Court signed its recommendation on 6 June 1996. The union, Manufacturing, Science, Finance, sought enhanced redundancy terms and other outstanding payments and benefits. The company said its wind-up budget was fixed and had offered five weeks’ pay per year of service inclusive of statutory entitlements. The Court also recommended that outstanding PCW Phases 1 and 2 be included in redundancy calculations, that owed holidays be paid and that contractual increments be honoured. It did not recommend concession of claims for PESP or a £1,000 ex-gratia payment.
