The Labour Court recommended that Grove Turkeys continue its piece-rate pay scheme, provided it pays at least the hourly rate including national agreement increases. The Court said all sections were earning above that minimum. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union said most workers had missed national agreement increases and sought a return to basic pay. Grove Turkeys said the scheme had exceeded national agreement payments by an average of 12.55%. The recommendation was dated 24 May 1996.
