The Labour Court recommended that the Western Regional/Central Fisheries Board pay a worker represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union £1,000 for each year he had performed duties beyond his grade. The recommendation was dated 24 May 1996.
The worker had sought re-grading after performing the duties since 1988. The Board said the staff scheme did not provide for the new grade sought and that the Department of the Marine had sanctioned a £3,000 settlement, which the worker rejected. The Court recommended that he be assigned only duties appropriate to his grade and salary in future.
