The Labour Court recommended that St. Luke’s Hospital (School of Radiography) maintain an acknowledged pay relationship with comparators at St. Vincent’s Hospital and make the necessary salary adjustments for its teaching staff. The Court signed the recommendation on 27 May 1996.
The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said parity had been established between the two hospitals’ teaching staff, who performed the same work. The hospital argued the claim was precluded by the Programme for Competitiveness and Work and that the pay difference was historical. The Court found an acknowledged pay relationship and recommended maintaining it despite discussions about transferring the school between government departments.
