The Labour Court recommended that Waterford Foods PLC’s shift-work proposals at its Dungarvan plant be accepted with modifications, in a recommendation signed on 21 December 1995. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers Union opposed changes affecting shift workers and sought protections and compensation. The Court recommended payments including £1,000 for loss of call-outs, a £3,000 redeployment figure and a £2,000 lead-in payment. It also recommended compensation of £650 for remaining staff where plant manning levels were reduced.
