Labour Court declines sick pay claim by Service Industrial Professional Technical Union

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Service Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for improved sick pay at Cahill May Roberts. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 1995. The union sought a service-related scheme offering up to 52 weeks of sick pay for about 30 salaried staff. The existing scheme provided three months’ full pay. Cahill May Roberts said its scheme compared favourably with those of competitors and that it could help individual employees facing genuine hardship after exhausting their sick pay entitlement.
