The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc classify a worker as a Principal Research Officer from 1 October 1995 and pay him accordingly. The Court signed its recommendation on 4 October 1995. The Manufacturing Science Finance union sought the higher grade, arguing that the worker’s duties had increased after he took on the Head of Information Technology role. Teagasc said promotion claims had been settled through an agreed process and that the worker was assessed under the same procedures as other research staff.
