The Labour Court recommended that Delphi Packard Electric Systems (Ireland) Ltd. and Manufacturing, Science, Finance discuss options for operating or discontinuing an incentive scheme for about 50 salaried staff. It said the discussions should be completed within one month. The recommendation was signed on 2 October 1995. The earlier scheme paid salaried staff a six-monthly bonus of 7%, but discussions about its future operation had not taken place. The union argued the bonus should be paid; the company cited accumulated losses and competitive pressure, saying the incentive would cost about £49,000 for six months. If the parties could not agree, the Court said it could make a further recommendation if asked.
