Labour Court recommends changes to Cantrell and Cochrane rationalisation plan

In 1995, the Labour Court recommended changes to Cantrell And Cochrane, Limited’s Production Rationalisation Plan, including that the Technical, Engineering & Electrical Union accept specified items and the company delete another. The Court signed its recommendation on 3 March 1995. The union’s claim for equivalent extra payments to those made to another group of workers could not be sustained, the Court said, because the circumstances did not apply to this group. It recommended that the union accept items H and N and a further proposal in discussions, while the company should delete item S. The union would operate items T and U, and the company would pause external appointments for two years. If the terms were accepted, the company would pay the 3% P.E.S.P. increase retrospectively from two years before acceptance.
