In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Print Union accept Independent Newspapers’ proposals for a 3% increase under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The Court signed its recommendation on 1 March 1995. The dispute also covered Saturday night working, overtime and staffing levels for 18 Rotary Minders. The Court said those outstanding issues were critical and should be addressed urgently. It recommended that the sides continue negotiations and allowed them to refer the issues back if they did not reach agreement within three months.
